Having fallen into a tiny funk lately, the Cleveland Indians have lost any hope of grabbing Minnesota in the AL Central race. They’ve fallen behind Oakland and both Tampa Bay in the wild card standings, they both the Tribe did show signs of pulling from their doldrums this past weekend.
Cleveland will now head west to complete this trip in Anaheim where the Indians have experienced a lot of recent success against the Angels, and they will have among their best hurlers on the mountain for your opener once Shane Bieber (13-7, 3.24) looks for his 14th win of the season.
The Angels counter with newcomer Patrick Sandoval (0-2, 4.91), and 5Dimes has Cleveland on a -155 money line. The total went on a flat-9, but has fallen to 81/2 and leaning’over’
Terry Francona and his crew arrive at Anaheim monitoring the Twins by 51/2 from the division pursuit, and supporting the A’s by 11/2 to the 2nd wild card slot in the AL.. The Indians had fallen five of seven if they removed for Minnesota this weekend, along with the pitching staff did a fantastic job holding the powerful Twins lineup in check to win two of three.
Cleveland had fallen 4-straight Bieber starts before he overcome the White Sox in the a week, working seven strong innings and striking out twice. He was better at early-August from the Angels, going the distance in a 6-2 win on a cash line in home.
The Angels are coming home from a 2-4 road trip that saw them swept last week prior to taking two of three in the White Sox in Toronto. Mike Trout stays day-to-day with a sore toe, and was at Chicago from the lineup in the last two matches.
Sandoval was billed with one of the losses last week at Oakland, however he surrendered just 1 run in his 3frames. It was the second consecutive start for the newcomer lefthander in and Monday will be his look in the hitters of Cleveland.
Even the Indians loved a home sweep of the Angels when the clubs met in August, and have won the past five encounters to leave them 18-4 in the competition since the start of this 2016 effort. Totals are 1-4 O/U throughout Cleveland’s recent streak, and 1-3 O/U the previous four.
Nothing but clear skies and comfortable temps from the Anaheim forecast for Monday, Sandoval’s first pitch coming together with the thermometer in the mid-70s and a 9-12 mph SW breeze (outside to center). I’m riding with all the visitors in this .
