The Resorts has been the first casino.
When then-New Jersey Gov. Brendan Byrne cut the grand opening ribbon Resorts at May 1978, so started a set of casino/resort openings, closings, re-openings, refurbishments up and down the Boardwalk.
Resorts is still going strong in Atlantic City’s heart, final November 2018 and they welcomed their newest amenity, the DraftKings Sportsbook.
DraftKings was focused on daily fantasy sports. But along with its cohort along with challenger, FanDuel, it’s a relative newcomer to the sports. DraftKings has held its own over the mobile front versus names such as MGM, Caesars, and William Hill.
And they also make a strong showing in the front in concert.
I have been reviewing every single NJ retail sportsbook ahead of the NFL regular season, and I am looking in DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts in Atlantic City.
Address: 1133 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401
Resorts is in the heart of Atlantic City’s”Boardwalk Strip.”
The newest DraftKings location is not hard to find, just in the boardwalk entrance. Resorts offers amenities such as dining , Margaritaville pub, and a spa and club choices as well as all the casino action.
Like most Atlantic City casinos, if you are not a hotel guest or even a devotion cardholder, you’re going to be hit with a charge for basic self-parking. Not perfect, but it’s the price of”doing business” in AC.
It ‘s feet and has a capacity of nearly 400 while the DraftKings distance feels little. The inside d??cor and colour scheme are decorated in”DK colors” of green and black. The branding is delicate but on point with fuzzy”kings crowns” located across the space.
Aside from the opulent d??cor, the facet of this DraftKings space would be the copious quantities of kiosks found at the entrance and adjacent to the sports bar.
All told, you’ll find 18 self-serve terminals at the area, rivaling only FanDuel in the Meadowlands (wait, are such daily-fantasy-turned-sportsbook operators onto something?) For kiosks in NJ’s amount sportsbooks.
The dwell teller space, which is tucked into a corner is offset by the kiosks. It is a smallish space with potential for up to five tellers.
Though the noted size (5,000 square feet) and capability (396) is big, the book feels considerably smaller and cozier. With low ceilings and smaller format video screens, it does have a similar”Fan Cave” feel like, say, the Golden Nugget publication.
Not a terrible thing, as DK has done an outstanding job.
The Resorts sportsbook includes a shape at its own principal sportsbook region with 2 offshoots: 1 and teller place, another in the back of the book that holds four VIP areas. The main viewing area contains four primary large screens that aren’t”giant” by any means but match the space allocated.
Underneath the four big video screens are 10 screens for sport action. There is a ticker display scrolling an chances and data wall and updates and the most recent scores situated opposite the primary bar.
DraftKings'”fire marshal” ability of 396 belies the truth that there’s somewhat limited seats in the primary sportsbook area. There are 40 theater seats anchoring the main viewing area. For a service partition will obscure a few of the displays for the ones that are currently sitting behind it, there’s a small design flaw in this principal area.
Additionally, the bar area has seats. That is a total of 70 seats, not counting.
You will find five live gambling windows adjacent to the primary bar.
While my visit was not at a”peak” time, one could visualize some audience issues at occasions, together along with people wedged into the corner of the space.
RATING: 3.5 stars
DraftKings rips it. What’s even better is that the majority of machines are accessible and available 24 hours a day. Well finished, DK.
RATING: 5 stars
The teller minimum is 5, sportsbook locations that are consistent with Hill NJ. This higher”live-teller” minimal is offset by the user-friendly kiosksthat have a reduced $1 minimum.
RATING: 4 stars
One isn’t overwhelmed with screens in the Resorts publication. The TV displays are serviceable, with no”wow” impact.
There are four displays in the viewing area and more in the VIP area. All the screens in the main viewing area and adjacent to the pub are a format.
Not the ideal situation for watching NFL Sunday in actions.
RATING: 3 stars
Even the”non-VIP” seating capacity is roughly 70. Yes, even the 40 chairs in the primary viewing area are outstanding.
The 15-seat rear rail does include power outlets (a great touch). The VIP areas are listed to hold up to 12 individuals (12 are the absolute max) and features plush leather couches and low tables. It feels”VIP-ish,” as the four regions have been consecutively adjoined (not personal ) with one big screen which may be set to whichever game you wish to see.
RATING: 3.5 stars
The day-to-day chairs accessibility is”first-come, first-serve,” together with the VIP areas available to be booked ahead of time.
RATING: 4 stars
As with AC sportsbook locations, the casino was constructed well before the introduction of their retail sportsbook. While a few other books have restricted to no food options (i.e., depart the book to get the food court), DraftKings Sportsbook presents some strong choices if you choose to not ever leave your chair or the sportsbook itself.
Besides this huge bar in the publication, you can find beverages available via table service and”Happy Hour” discounted beverage pricing on Sunday-Thursday from 2-7 p.m.
The menu is brief, but solid featuring some conventional sports pub food such as hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken wings but also a few other offerings featuring quesadillas, chicken parm, along with sushi rolls.
RATING: 4.5 stars
Within my trip, there were four DraftKings personnel on-site and all were clarify bets, customer focused to answer questions, or instruct how to use this self-betting kiosks.
DK has also pinpointed the lines newspaper display. A wall is opposite the bar that displays an assortment of lines and displays that are potential. Screens is a row of paper sheets. Nicely finished, DK!
RATING: 5 stars
Resorts Casino is in the heart of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This prime location is reflected at the self-parking prices of 20. Yecch!
RATING: 2 stars
As highlighted earlier, Resorts includes a multitude of alternatives under its roof as well for all those”non-sports gambling” frame in your mind which you might happen to be in, there is something for everybody.
As previously stated, the place in the heart of the Boardwalk makes it effortless for you to travel down or up the boardwalk to find more entertainment options.
RATING: 4.5 stars
As a part of each sportsbook visit, I’m placing a football-related bet for the forthcoming 2019 season.
With its 18 kiosks adorned throughout the area, it was only fair I made this bet at one of their terminals. With futures and extra props, the DraftKings kiosks are loaded in addition to the decrease bet minimums of 1 you don’t see at the book on display.
After studying a few NFL potential bets around”NFL team to acquire against the fewest matches” and”NFL defensive rookie of the year,” I took a shot “Last NFL team to be undefeated in the 2019-20 season”
Superior luck and go get’em, New Orleans Saints:
The Resorts sportsbook provides some amenities which are available at most other Atlantic City sportsbooks. DraftKings scores solid marks in the areas of an extraordinary number of kiosks, in-seat food-and-drink ordering, and seats.
The rips on DraftKings in Resorts, however, stem from the space within the Resorts area. The TV displays are on the smaller side in relation to other books along with the seating capacity is really on the side.
When given a free rein to design a space one supposes that DraftKings would do things differently, but they must perform the best with the space available.
So the negatives are outweighed by the positives. Combined with a favorable customer-service approach and dedication, it does put the DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts on the”must-consider” set for a visit during the upcoming school and NFL seasons.
